Cranky Author Reviews: Drakon's Promise by N.J. Walters

Spoilers
This book was good although I did want there to be something other than the woman drinking his blood to bond them...

Darius Varkas is a half human / half dragon shifter who has been in hiding from a secret society of dragon hunters for years. He is reclusive and a billionaire...

He meets Sarah Anderson when she calls him with information about a book she found that feels evil to her.

I liked the whole she almost sacrifices her life for him but I felt like their should be something different than just she drinks his blood and then he just loves her forever. I felt their needed to be a deeper connection than that. The drinking of his blood without anything happening ( like her getting a mark, or maybe them feeling each others emotions, or something to that effect) makes the bond seem no different than the evil Knights of the dragon drinking his blood for power.

Maybe that just a nit picky thing because I felt like there should be something that happened but it felt like even though she protested that she didn't want it and tried to refuse because she didn't' want to be like the evil knights it was still something that bugged the crap out of me LOL...

Now that that little rant is over I would say that the book as a whole is very good. The adventure that these two find themselves on leads them to the HEA quite nicely. They connect well and I enjoyed the story overall despite my annoyance...

So for me this was a SEPE or 4.5  star read...likely had I not been annoyed that nothing happened to bond them more I would have given it a 5 star
