Cranky Author Reviews: Drantos by Laurann Dohner

Spoilers...
For me this book was okay I enjoyed it but it really isn't as good as her new speices series...

This is the story of Dusti and Drantos. It starts with Dusit and Batina (must say hate her name... like hate hate her name. Bat they call her which kind of annoyed me) hearing that the pilots know their plane is about to crash...

Uh-oh, not so good and in steps two bothers who decide to shield them with their bodies... ummm okay even I know this is a little far fetched but I suppose knowing they are vamp/lycans and heal faster and can take more damage than a human could make this work... Maybe... okay that part I kind of found silly and a bit out of my ability to believe.

So any who you have Dusti getting crushed by this giant guy she thinks might be trying to rape her which I also found a bit unbelievable as well because he flat out tells her is shielding her with his body but I suppose that could have worked too but it bugged me a little... And why in the middle of a plane crash would your brain go to that? So–they crash and survive along with a dozen other people... then there is the whole by the way the grandfather you where on the plane headed to is a vamp/lycan too and so are you only your half human... and he's trying to kill you.

I was okay with that part and the whole running for your lives part but I wasn't okay with the way she didn't seem to stand up for herself once they were together and has the whole other woman reaction to a bitch she thinks was his girlfriend...even when he tells her she isn't.

I get it but her unwillingness to listen to him about the woman bothered me and then she gets taken and he goes after her and suddenly everything is going good... yay liked the book from then on but hated that she was a doormat to anyone until the end when she was pretending to be her bitchy sister (who's book I read and found her a little annoying which I will explain when I review her book...)

So what I liked was the way Drantos didn't let anything hold him back from loving her and the way she was willing to give up everything for him to be happy. And I liked the way she dealt with the guy from out of town it was smart and a really interesting spin on the whole thing...

All in all this book was a decent read but it isn't like her other two series which I read over and over again because I love them so much even with the strange vocabulary she uses at times....

So for me this was a SEPE or a solid 4-star read...
